Tesla has officially unveiled the redesigned Model Y in North America and Europe, shortly after its announcement for the Asia Pacific market. This new version does not replace the original Model Y; instead, Tesla is offering both models on its website concurrently. Currently, only the long-range all-wheel drive launch series variant of the new Model Y is available in the US, starting at a competitive price of ,490. The launch series is a special edition release, featuring distinctive elements such as exclusive badging on the rear liftgate, puddle lights, and a unique doorsill plate, making it stand out from the standard offerings.
While the new Model Y retains the familiar proportions of its predecessor, it boasts a more refined design with rounder edges, complemented by smaller headlights and taillights framing a redesigned lightbar. Inside, the vehicle features a luxurious ambiance created by ambient lighting that wraps around the cabin, enhancing the overall aesthetic. Comfort is prioritized with ventilated seats and a prominent 15.4-inch touchscreen at the front. The second-row seats are equipped with power recline functionality and can easily fold flat, providing versatility for cargo space. Additionally, rear passengers enjoy access to an 8-inch Bluetooth-enabled rearscreen display with a touch panel, enhancing the passenger experience.
The long-range all-wheel drive Model Y is designed for performance, offering an impressive estimated range of 325 miles. It can reach a top speed of 125 mph and accelerates from zero to 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds. In comparison, the previous Model Y long-range AWD achieves a range of 311 miles on a single charge, with a top speed of 135 mph and a 0-60 mph time of 4.8 seconds. Deliveries for the new Model Y are slated to commence in March. For those who prefer the original version, prices start at $31,490, though it’s important to note that this model is facing a $4,000 price increase in Canada.
