Lola Petticrew and Scoot McNairy Join Liz Meriwether’s Hulu Collection

Liz Meriwether is stepping into a dual role as both writer and executive producer for a highly anticipated new Hulu series. This upcoming collection promises to deliver an engaging narrative that captivates audiences and showcases her unique storytelling abilities.

The untitled series has secured prominent actors, including Lola Petticrew and Scott McNairy, who will take on leading roles. This project draws loose inspiration from the classic 1987 film “Black Widow,” signaling a thrilling mix of drama and suspense. Additionally, Emmy Rossum is also set to star, adding significant star power to the cast. The project initially gained attention when it was announced in March, with Brian Kirk, known for his work on “The Day of the Jackal” and “Game of Thrones,” joining as director and executive producer.

The official logline presents a gripping narrative: “An FBI agent utilizes the dark secrets from a female serial killer’s past in a desperate attempt to locate her.” In this intense drama, Rossum portrays the determined FBI agent, while Petticrew takes on the complex role of Catherine—a killer with a haunting past who specifically targets wealthy men while evading the relentless pursuit of the NYPD and FBI.

Scott McNairy is cast as Danny, an NYPD murder detective who has been entrenched in his work for far too long. His character is described as sharp, weary, and emotionally burdened, reflecting the toll that years of crime-solving have taken on him. This depth adds a layer of complexity to the series, promising viewers an emotionally rich character study.

As both writer and executive producer, Meriwether is poised to bring her vision to life, while Rossum will also contribute as an executive producer through her banner, Composition 8, along with Sara Moskowitz. Notably, Ron Bass, the screenwriter behind “Black Widow,” is involved as an executive producer as well. Kirk will direct the first two episodes, ensuring a strong start for the series, which is being produced by 20th Television and Searchlight TV.

Recently, Petticrew showcased her talent in the FX/Hulu series “Say Nothing,” which explores life in Northern Ireland during the Troubles, further cementing her status as a compelling actress. Her other notable television credits include “Bloodlands” and “Anne Boleyn,” while she has also appeared in films such as “Dating Amber” and “A Bump Along the Way.”

Meanwhile, McNairy recently portrayed the iconic Woody Guthrie in the acclaimed Bob Dylan biopic “A Complete Unknown.” His impressive filmography includes significant roles in “Argo,” “12 Years a Slave,” “Gone Girl,” “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” and “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” He is well-known for his leading role in the AMC series “Halt and Catch Fire” and has made appearances in critically acclaimed shows like “Fargo,” “Godless,” “Narcos: Mexico,” and the third season of “True Detective.”
