X is enhancing its Grok AI chatbot with new features to increase the value of X Premium subscriptions, making it more appealing for users looking for advanced AI interactions.
The first significant improvement involves the introduction of customization options within the Grok experience, allowing users to tailor their interactions with the AI.
As illustrated in the example shared by X Daily News, users will have the ability to insert permanent qualifiers into Grok’s framework. This enhancement will enable Grok to utilize these identifiers to create more personalized interactions and responses that resonate better with individual users.
For instance, you can inform Grok about your identity, including your preferred names, pronouns, profession, interests, and more. By integrating these details into its algorithms, Grok aims to refine its responses, creating a more tailored and engaging user experience.
This personalization feature could prove to be a significant asset, enhancing the overall user experience. However, its effectiveness will largely depend on how well Grok can comprehend and interpret this information, and how seamlessly it can incorporate it into its responses. Ideally, this should lead to more meaningful and personalized chatbot interactions, thereby increasing user interest in the tool.
Additionally, X plans to implement the capability for file uploads within the Grok interface, allowing users to include various elements in their inquiries, which could significantly enhance the richness of interactions.

This enhancement will broaden Grok’s analytical capabilities, making it a more versatile tool for a variety of use cases, from simple queries to complex data analysis, thereby attracting a wider user base.
Predicting Grok’s future value is challenging. Although xAI has attracted substantial investment and is led by Elon Musk, known for his push towards technological advancements, it faces fierce competition from major players like Meta, Google, and OpenAI, all targeting the same audience with their advanced AI solutions.
Meta claims that its chatbot is now the most popular AI assistant globally, while Microsoft has successfully integrated OpenAI’s tools across its applications, reaching a vast audience. Furthermore, OpenAI is launching new AI assistant features, such as the “Operator,” capable of performing web-based tasks, along with a deep research tool designed to analyze and synthesize extensive online information to generate comprehensive reports similar to those created by research analysts.
Each of these AI chatbots boasts significant investments and a far greater reach than xAI at this point. It remains uncertain what unique features xAI can introduce to distinguish itself and offer enhanced value compared to these established tools.
While xAI’s “non woke” stance has been a notable selling point, championed by Elon Musk’s criticisms of restrictions placed on other AI chatbots, the question remains: will this approach generate substantial consumer interest and loyalty?
It’s worth noting that users can already upload files to ChatGPT and image files to Meta AI. Additionally, both platforms allow for personalization prompts, albeit through less direct methods.
xAI is also in the process of launching its dedicated Grok app, which aims to enhance its capabilities to meet diverse user requirements and preferences.
However, when it comes to raw computing power, it appears that xAI is not yet in the same category as its major competitors.
xAI operates on its “Colossus” supercomputer cluster, which is projected to include up to 200,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs, a system that was assembled rapidly last year. In contrast, OpenAI reportedly has access to around 720,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs, both through its own resources and those owned by Microsoft, while Meta possesses approximately 600,000 of its own GPUs.
Given these factors, xAI currently has a smaller user base and less computing power, indicating a considerable journey ahead to catch up with its rivals. It appears that competitors are more likely to prevail in this landscape, but perhaps Elon Musk can discover efficiencies that others have overlooked.
This seems to be the hope among xAI investors as they look towards the future.
