Nathalia Gadelha, a 20-year-old co-pilot, tragically lost her life in a plane crash in Palm Beach County on Sunday. Just moments before the crash, she sent a poignant final text message to her boyfriend.
According to the New York Post, Nathalia’s stepfather, Thiago Cortelet, revealed that she sent the alarming text to her boyfriend at approximately 12:40 PM ET, which was around ten minutes prior to the tragic crash.
In her final message, Nathalia informed her boyfriend, “I’ve got turbulence, I’ve got ice.”
Nathalia’s boyfriend, also a licensed pilot, shared the spotlight with her due to their impressive achievements at such young ages. Nathalia earned her pilot’s license at just 17 while still in high school.
Her family confirmed that Nathalia had accumulated over 1,300 hours of flight experience by the time of her untimely death.
As previously reported, Nathalia was providing assistance to the aircraft’s captain, Jeff Gregory, when the plane suddenly nosedived and crashed in West Palm Beach.
Nathalia was among the nine individuals who tragically perished in the crash, which included Captain Gregory, 44-year-old tech entrepreneur Adam Robinson, his wife Helen, their two children, and two family friends.
In a chilling dispatch audio, Nathalia can be heard exclaiming, “Holy f***, we’re out of time,” as a male voice, believed to be Gregory’s, recites the Lord’s prayer.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) reported in a press conference that they suspect the plane was disintegrating before impact, indicating it was experiencing severe turbulence and icing conditions.
