On Sunday, the former president took to Truth Social, expressing, “The Washington ‘Whatevers’ should IMMEDIATELY change their name back to the Washington Redskins Football Team. There is a massive demand for this change.” His words echo a nostalgic longing among some supporters for the traditional name that has deep roots in the franchise’s history.

Trump did not limit his comments to just the Commanders; he also mentioned that the Cleveland Guardians should revert to their former name, the Indians, claiming, “Our great Indian people, in large numbers, want this to happen.” He concluded his post with a strong call to the teams’ owners to “get it done,” emphasizing the urgency of the situation.

Earlier this year, when asked if the Commanders should revert to the Redskins name should the franchise relocate back to D.C., Trump avoided giving a direct answer.
