A dedicated fan of Luigi Mangione who reported on the trial through social media expressed support for individuals justifying the death of Brian Thompson after Luigi pleaded guilty.
To clarify, Lena Weissbrot is among three supporters of Luigi who refer to themselves as the “Mangionistas.” This group has consistently voiced their backing for Luigi over the past year. Reports indicate that they received press credentials from New York City to cover a pretrial hearing related to the case.
In a recent social media post, Lena shared a video that highlighted supportive comments directed at Luigi. She wrote, “The comment section does not disappoint on this reel! A significant number of people feel exactly like I do.”
The comments predominantly criticize Thompson, asserting that he deserved his fate due to his association with UnitedHealthcare. These remarks overlook the emotional distress felt by his family, who believe the company has inflicted pain on many others. Brian’s family was present in court on Friday.
As previously reported, Luigi pleaded guilty on Friday to two federal charges of stalking and admitted in court that he was responsible for Thompson’s death.
No plea deal has been established, meaning Luigi has effectively placed himself at the court’s mercy. The federal sentencing guidelines suggest a prison term ranging from 24 to 30 years, and the presiding judge has indicated that he will need to serve a minimum of 85% of the sentence.
According to Luigi’s attorneys, he is being exploited as a pawn by state and federal prosecutors as part of this case.
