The popular crowd-sourced review platform Yelp has introduced an innovative feature called Review Insights, which leverages artificial intelligence along with customer feedback to evaluate various aspects of nightlife and dining establishments. This exciting new functionality is now available on the iOS version of the Yelp app, allowing users to access more detailed insights into their local businesses.
Review Insights gathers data from customer reviews and processes this information using a sophisticated large language model (LLM). This model assigns specific ratings—such as for ambiance or service speed—on a scale of 100. Remarkably, it can deduce customer feelings regarding these aspects of a business even if they are not explicitly stated in reviews. In addition to this feature, Yelp is set to roll out an AI-enhanced homepage in the upcoming weeks, further improving user experience.
Over the past year, Yelp has been actively integrating new AI functionalities into its platform. Earlier in January, the company introduced a new AI feature, followed by the launch of an additional AI tool in April, showcasing its commitment to enhancing the way users interact with business reviews and discover local offerings.
