Safaree Samuels Reflects on the Pain of Losing His Mother Months Later
This past weekend, Safaree Samuels opened up on Instagram Stories about the profound sense of loss he feels missing his mother. He expressed that keeping busy is not as helpful as many suggest.
“Whenever I pause and remember that my mom is not reachable, it feels as if my insides are being torn apart,” Safaree Samuels shared. “I’m really off of and over everything,” he admitted.
He further expressed, “Staying busy doesn’t help at all. I detest when people advise me to get busy… it doesn’t change anything. Nothing alleviates this [broken heart emoji] pain.”
Safaree Shares the Heartbreaking News of His Mother’s Passing in March
In March, Safaree Samuels revealed the devastating news of his mother’s death. He posted a series of photos with her on Instagram, accompanied by a poignant caption that reflected how shattered his life feels without her. At that time, he did not disclose the circumstances surrounding her passing.
“I’ll never laugh or smile the same again. I can’t believe I can’t call you… my mommy… my heart, my world. Your kids love you so much. As I write this, my hands can’t even hold still. This past year, we never left your side. God, give me strength because I don’t know how I’m going to navigate this without you. I never understood pain until now… my life will never be the same.”
Social Media Community Connects with Safaree’s Grief
In the comments on The Shade Room, many users are sharing their own experiences of losing a parent and other loved ones. Several are offering Safaree coping strategies that have helped them through similar times.
@bossladyshun shared some heartfelt advice, “I’m here to tell you that the pain is intense. I would suggest learning to sit with it and let it go. Engage in activities that bring you joy and cherish those moments with loved ones. Don’t attempt to escape it; instead, endure it. @safaree”
@malaiyaamnayy commented, “The loss of a parent is an unbearable pain. No matter how much time passes or how happy someone may appear, they will never be the same.”
“You can’t run from grief indefinitely. It’s always there, lurking behind you as soon as you stop. You need to embrace it for a moment, and eventually, you learn to coexist with it. Sending prayers to Safaree for strength,” @see_bc expressed.
“After my mom passed, I spent the first year keeping myself overwhelmingly busy to avoid facing my feelings. Whatever it takes to distract you and help you move forward is valid. There’s no correct way to grieve. ❤️ It’ll be 12 years for me this December, and it still feels surreal. It never gets easier; you just learn to manage it. It’s a painful club to belong to. 😢,” @sucha_lady101 shared.
@mztanaisha added, “It’s been 20 years this December, and I still feel this way. Wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. 😩🙏🏼 I miss my Mama.”
