What Is the Engaging Storyline of The Devil Wears Prada 2?
In the sequel to the iconic film The Devil Wears Prada, the plot unfolds two decades after the original storyline. The audience is reintroduced to Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway), who is now navigating a real New York City lifestyle—complete with a dilapidated apartment that features rusty water and lacks the stunning skyline views she once aspired to. Following her unexpected layoff from her newspaper during an awards gala, where she ironically receives recognition for her outstanding work, Andy seizes an opportunity to return to the familiar environment of Runway at the Elias-Clark publishing house.
Irv Ravitz (Tibor Feldman), the owner of Elias-Clark, brings Andy back into the fold, tasking her with reviving Runway’s reputation after Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) finds herself embroiled in a scandal involving a brand accused of exploiting sweatshop labor. As Andy and Miranda reestablish their working relationship, new conflicts emerge, and Andy’s journalistic skills are put on the line amidst a backdrop of advertising pressures and the rise of artificial intelligence, which pose significant threats to Runway and its dedicated team.

Who Meets a Shocking Fate in The Devil Wears Prada 2?
Rest assured, the principal quartet—Andy, Miranda, Emily, and Nigel—survive unscathed, but one significant legacy character faces a dramatic demise, marking a crucial turning point in the film.
Irv Ravitz suffers a fatal heart attack during his extravagant birthday celebration. In a twist of fate, before his sudden passing, Miranda anticipates his announcement of her as the new head of global content at his influential company.
Following Irv’s death, his son, Jay Ravitz (B.J. Novak), steps into the leadership role at Elias-Clark, delivering the unsettling news that the creative team dreads: a complete “restructuring” of the organization.
Director David Frankel elaborated on the necessity of Irv’s departure during an insightful interview with Entertainment Weekly.
“It couldn’t just be that he’s in a coma somewhere. Irv had to go,” David stated. “With this takeover, the entire company becomes vulnerable. It’s reminiscent of the taxi accident involving Emily in the first film. This unexpected event dramatically pivots the storyline in an engaging and thrilling manner.”
