Star Tours Toy Receives a Fresh Look for Star Wars Day

Last year, D23 captivated collectors and Star Wars enthusiasts with an incredible piece of memorabilia: a large, 3.75-inch figure-scaled replica of the classic ride vehicle from Star Tours, known as the StarSpeeder 3000. This impressive model could accommodate up to 25 figures and even featured a video screen showcasing memorable moments from the iconic Disney attraction. However, if your fond memories of Star Tours are more aligned with its recent enhancements (which are now nearly a decade and a half old), then you’re in for a treat this weekend.

We are excited to present an exclusive first glimpse at the reimagined Star Tours Starspeeder toy, debuting as part of the Disney Store’s Star Wars Day celebrations this May 4. This time around, the electronically enhanced vehicle boasts a vibrant new orange paint scheme, representing the StarSpeeder 1000, the updated version of the ride vehicle introduced during the transformation of Star Tours into The Adventures Continue in 2011. This upgrade revitalized the ride experience by integrating fresh footage inspired by locations from both the prequel trilogy and the original saga.

In addition to the updated paint design and a fresh box art that draws inspiration from The Adventures Continue, the toy maintains most of its original features from the D23 debut, albeit with a few minor modifications. The model still includes a display stand and seating for up to 25 figures scaled at 3.75 inches (complete with crucial seatbelts for safety!). Moreover, it retains a range of electronic enhancements, such as functional doors that emit the classic ride chime, illuminating lights on the display stand, as well as headlights, thrusters, and cannons on the ship itself. Notably, a 4.75-inch LCD screen located at the front of the StarSpeeder’s interior will play authentic Star Tours ride sequence footage. However, whether this screen has been updated to include scenes from Adventures Continue—as opposed to the classic Star Tours footage featured in the previous StarSpeeder 3000 toy—remains uncertain.

A significant distinction between this model and the previous StarSpeeder 3000 playset is that while the latter showcased a selection of voice phrases from the iconic Star Tours droid pilot, Captain Rex, the new StarSpeeder 1000 reflects the updates from Adventures Continue by featuring memorable lines from C-3PO, who became the unwitting pilot in this refreshed version. This character change is also evident in the included figures, which will now feature both R2-D2 and C-3PO from the popular ‘Droid Factory’ 3.75-inch figure line that Disney offers in its parks, replacing the Captain Rex figure that accompanied the D23 StarSpeeder 3000 release.

This time around, there’s no need to trek to an event like D23 to acquire this new vehicle. The Star Tours: The Adventures Continue StarSpeeder 1000 playset will be available directly from the Disney Store at this link starting at 11 AM ET / 8 AM PT on Sunday, May 4.
