Solange Commemorates Hayden Panettiere Following Her Untimely Death At 36
On Tuesday, August 18, Solange Knowles took to her Instagram Stories to honor her late co-star. Knowles and Panettiere portrayed cheerleaders in the 2006 film ‘Bring It On: All or Nothing.’ Panettiere’s passing occurred in Greenville, South Carolina, and Knowles shared a touching tribute, as reported by PEOPLE. The GRAMMY Award-winning artist also included images from their film as part of her tribute.
“Rest in peace, Hayden. You deserve peace because of the incredible light you brought into the world,” stated the text on the Instagram Story. “We shared so many parallels in our lives, and the world witnessed your courageous journey as you lived your truth and shared your story. We followed your relentless pursuit of vulnerability and healing.”
“I honor your journey and the work we created together, which resonates deeply with many people,” it continued. “We reached audiences we could never have imagined back then, as two young girls striving to find the light. The light now envelops you. Rest peacefully, Hayden.”
Hayden Panettiere’s Tragic Death on August 16
The Shade Room reported that Panettiere passed away on Sunday, August 16, in Greenville, South Carolina. At approximately 1:50 p.m., the Greenville Police Department responded to an emergency call regarding an unresponsive female at the Judson Mill Lofts on Easley Bridge Road.
Paramedics arrived on the scene and performed CPR on Panettiere; however, she was pronounced dead shortly after, according to the Greenville Police Department, as stated by NBC News. Her father, Skip Panettiere, confirmed her death in a statement to ABC News.
“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden,” said Panettiere. “She was a radiant light and a force of nature who brought boundless love and joy to everyone who knew her — and to the millions who admired her on screen.”
Could An Overdose Have Led to the Movie Star’s Death?
The ‘Nashville’ star may have succumbed to an apparent overdose. According to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office and PEOPLE, EMS responded to a 911 call about an unresponsive female.
“First responders and Emergency Medical Services arrived on the scene and found a female in cardiac arrest. EMS personnel initiated advanced cardiac life support measures; however, resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful, and the individual was pronounced deceased at 2:32 PM.”
Coroner Mike Ellis further noted:
“The autopsy revealed no signs of trauma that could have contributed to the death,” Ellis stated. “The cause and manner of death are pending further investigation and additional studies. This investigation remains active and ongoing. No further details can be released at this time.”
While no official cause of death has been confirmed, PEOPLE reported that the life-saving opioid emergency medication Narcan was found at the scene. An overdose was also referenced in the 911 audio, according to WYFF 4 News.
“Easley Bridge Road. Overdose,” a voice can be heard on the audio. “CPR in progress.”
