SMB Support Initiatives for Small Business Month by TikTok

TikTok is eager to showcase its achievements in supporting small businesses across the platform.

In celebration of Small Business Month this May, TikTok has unveiled an array of initiatives and opportunities tailored for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), including a chance to win a share of $1 million in TikTok advertising credits.

According to TikTok:

Small businesses are the heart of innovation, culture, and community across the United States, and on TikTok, their impact is bigger than ever. Among the 170 million users in the U.S., over 7.5 million businesses, ranging from family-owned shops to emerging brands, are utilizing TikTok to enhance their growth and connect with wider audiences.”

Indeed, TikTok has been actively seeking opportunities to emphasize its significant contribution to the U.S. economy, especially as a part of its strategy to counter the ongoing discussions regarding the potential sell-off of the app in the country.

Currently, the situation remains ongoing. The “Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act”, which took effect in January, mandates that TikTok must either be acquired by a U.S.-owned entity or cease its operations within the nation. While this law has yet to be enforced, President Trump has issued executive orders delaying its implementation, and further orders may follow if deemed necessary. However, it’s important to note that, technically, TikTok is operating without legal standing in America at this moment.

Whether a deal to keep the app functional in the U.S. can be negotiated remains uncertain, particularly amidst rising tensions between the U.S. and China surrounding tariff discussions. Nevertheless, as these negotiations unfold, TikTok is keen to highlight its advantages for American users, seemingly as a strategy to mitigate opposition against the app.

This focus on showcasing its positive impact diverges from the primary motivations for the push towards a TikTok sell-off. Despite this, TikTok continues to promote its narrative vigorously.

Returning to the theme of Small Business Month, TikTok is launching several initiatives for this celebration, which include:

  • Small Biz Fest TikTok Academy Webinars: Starting May 15, participate in a weekly webinar series that provides expert insights and innovative strategies to launch impactful campaigns and fully leverage TikTok’s business tools.
  • 100 Ways to Grow on TikTok: Explore our video podcast series that features compelling stories and insights from small business owners and brands, crafted to inspire and educate.
  • Small Biz Fest Roadshows: Open to small business owners, join TikTok in Los Angeles, New York City, and Austin to discover how to optimize your small business visibility on the platform.

Additionally, TikTok is distributing $1 million in advertising credits, with each credit package worth $2,000 awarded to 500 businesses.

To qualify, your business must employ fewer than 500 individuals and be headquartered in the U.S. Winners will receive $2,000 in ad credits along with a consultation session with a TikTok advertising expert.

However, if you win, you’ll need to act quickly with your advertisements:

Provided all requirements and obligations are met, the ad credits will be applied to your TikTok Ads Manager account on or before June 14, 2025. If the ad credits are not fully utilized, they will automatically expire on July 14, 2025.

Thus, you will have a month to utilize the advertising credits effectively on TikTok ads. Anticipate a surge of SMB promotions throughout June.

TikTok has detailed all of these initiatives on a new Small Biz Fest mini-site, where you can also submit your application to participate in the ad credits giveaway and register for various webinars and informational sessions.

This could be a valuable opportunity to explore. Despite the ongoing concerns regarding its status in the U.S., TikTok continues to be one of the most widely used applications, especially among younger demographics, making it a crucial platform for branding and promotions.

Implementing a few strategic tips may significantly enhance your TikTok marketing efforts.
