On Thursday, September 3, Shakema Springfield, the mother of King Von’s child, testified in Lil Durk’s trial, providing her perspective on the incidents leading up to Von’s death and the memorial services. As reported by Los Angeles Magazine journalist Taylor Parise, Springfield challenged the statements made by Kavon Grant, known as “OTF Vonnie,” referring to him as a “liar.”
Springfield testified that King Von and Vonnie shared a close relationship and interacted daily. She also indicated that Vonnie had authority over certain aspects of Von’s financial affairs.
She recounted her experience at King Von’s memorial, which lasted three days, attended by family members. Her testimony stated that Lil Durk was absent and that she did not overhear any discussions regarding retaliation for Von’s death.
This account reportedly contradicts Vonnie’s earlier testimony, where he claimed that Durk was present at the memorial and that they discussed a revenge plan, according to Taylor Parise.
Springfield recalled questioning Vonnie about who was responsible for King Von’s murder. She testified that Vonnie replied, “He told me not to worry about it, and he’s going to take care of it.”
Shakema Springfield served in the U.S. Army for a decade and has a 6-year-old son with the late rapper King Von.
