Kaia Gerber fully acknowledges the privileges she enjoys due to her famous lineage, yet she maintains a critical stance towards other nepo babies in the industry.
Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber‘s daughter candidly discussed her perspective on judging other celebrity offspring during a recent interview with Vogue. She expressed an awareness of her own nepo privilege while also holding other nepo babies to high standards, expecting them to demonstrate their worth in the industry.
Kaia remarked, “I’ve only ever been a nepo baby, and my career has always benefited from that. Yet, I find myself scrutinizing other nepo babies, thinking, ‘Alright, show me why you deserve this opportunity.’”
She shared that this topic recently surfaced on the set of “The Shards,” a new series by Ryan Murphy, inspired by Bret Easton Ellis‘s novel. During filming, she spoke with her co-star Homer Gere, who is the son of renowned actor Richard Gere.
Homer is just beginning his journey in the film industry; his debut major role was in the final season of “Euphoria.” Kaia mentioned that the nepo baby label can be burdensome for him, and she advised him that he would face more scrutiny due to his father’s fame.
Despite this, she motivated him to channel that pressure into a powerful performance.
Kaia also opened up about her long-standing struggles with “disordered eating,” encouraging others to offer supportive words to those facing eating disorders. She emphasized that “Negativity has never saved someone’s life.”
Ultimately, Kaia makes it clear: if you’re a nepo baby, she will be judging your every move!
