A man from Chicago faces double murder charges while already incarcerated for an unrelated offense. Chicago Man Allegedly Shoots and Kills 19-Year-Old in 2024
Anthony Nunnally, aged 21, is accused of fatally shooting both teenagers in separate alleys on the East Side. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Sierra Evans was shot multiple times in September 2024. Her body was discovered on the 28th of that month, near the 9500 block of South Avenue N. Prosecutors indicated in court that Nunnally and Evans had only been in a relationship for about a month when the shooting occurred.
On the night Sierra was killed, she, Nunnally, and two others were drinking in a basement when the situation escalated. Allegations state that Nunnally became violent, choking Evans and pinning her against a wall. After punching a hole in the wall, he was ejected from the residence. Shortly thereafter, he called two individuals present in the home, claiming he was returning. Witnesses reported hearing several gunshots moments before Nunnally re-entered the basement, allegedly brandishing a firearm and confessing to having killed someone before displaying a gang sign. The next day, Evans’ body was found alongside 18 shell casings, although the motive for the shooting remains unspecified.
What Are the Next Steps for Anthony Nunnally?
As of Wednesday (August 5), Nunnally will remain in custody under the orders of Judge Deidre Dyer, pending trial. He faces two counts of first-degree murder. Prior to these charges, he was already in custody at Cook County Jail for a carjacking incident unrelated to the murders. This event occurred last October, coinciding with the time of Gabriella Arellano’s shooting. Prosecutors stated that Nunnally attempted to steal a vehicle from an old classmate. He is scheduled to appear in court again on August 26.
