Prepare for an increase in live streaming activity on X in the coming month. Although live streaming isn’t new to this social platform, it hasn’t been its primary focus. Recently, the company introduced a comprehensive live streaming command center named Live Studio, equipped with essential tools to simplify the live streaming process for creators. X is offering new financial incentives to encourage creators to engage more actively.
In a recent announcement via X, the head of product revealed that the company is allocating $1 million to reward creators who participate in live streaming during the upcoming cycle. While Nikita Bier did not provide specific details on the payout structure, he assured that more information will be shared soon. He also showcased a demonstration of the Live Studio command center within Creator Studio to highlight its functionality.
The command center allows users to initiate a new stream, assign it a title, and upload a thumbnail image that viewers will see prior to the stream going live. Creators can schedule their streams to start at a specified time on a particular day and determine the audience for their broadcasts. Options for audience control include limiting access to verified accounts, followers, or subscribers, or making the stream available to all users on X. Live Studio also provides creators with real-time insights into viewer comments and stream performance, including the number of concurrent viewers, their geographical locations, and the devices they are using.
Currently, live streaming on X is exclusively available to users with an X Premium subscription, which costs $3 per month. It remains to be seen if X has enhanced its live streaming infrastructure over the past few years. In 2023, Ron DeSantis was set to announce his presidential candidacy on the platform’s live audio streaming service, Spaces, but faced server issues that hindered the announcement. Similarly, a year later, an interview between Elon Musk and President Trump was planned, but the Spaces live feature crashed and became inaccessible.
