Based in New York City, the company announced its expansion plans via a LinkedIn post, revealing that it aims to enter the markets of California, Connecticut, and New York this year. This growth follows a grant received earlier in the year, which supports installations in Washington, D.C. Collaborating with Los Angeles-based InCharge Energy, Voltpost will manage the installations and maintenance, incorporating real-time monitoring to address common issues with public EV charging infrastructure.
In April, Voltpost was awarded part of a nearly $610,000 grant from the Department of Energy and Environment of the District of Columbia. The company plans to retrofit up to 16 utility poles using this funding.
Voltpost faces competition in the curbside and lamppost charging sector, as various cities and companies are increasingly interested in this technology. It provides a vital solution for EV owners without access to off-street parking or the option to install a Level 2 charger at their residence. One of the significant challenges has been collaborating with municipalities to deliver electricity to the curb where no power source exists. Voltpost’s approach leverages existing utility poles to overcome this hurdle.
While the specific locations for Voltpost’s new charging stations in California, Connecticut, and New York are yet to be disclosed, the company has indicated plans for further market expansions. It’s important to note that city parking regulations will influence the placement of these stations.
