Kneecap, the Belfast hip-hop group, brings the Irish language to the large display of their movie of the identical title. The trio, Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap, and DJ Próvaí, play themselves alongside Michael Fassbender.
The principally true account of the band’s origins chronicles Kneecap’s rowdy journey to creating Irish language music and the unconventional potential of talking their native language. Switching between English and Irish, the trailer guarantees raucous shenanigans, battle with the police, and a humorous unraveling of the established order. It even features a lyrical Easter egg for the actual Kneecap heads.
The movie is author Wealthy Peppiatt’s directorial debut, and it received the the NEXT award out of Sundance 2024.
Kneecap hits theaters Aug. 2.
