Drake‘s team is vigorously contesting a lawsuit that alleges he plagiarized the chorus of one of his most popular songs. They assert that the lawsuit is merely a scheme to extract money from him, as reported by TMZ.
The producer, Aviel Calev Hirschfield, known as Avi, filed the lawsuit on Friday, claiming that Drake appropriated the chorus from his hit song “Janice STFU.”
The lawsuit, which TMZ has obtained, details that Avi alleges he recorded the hook in January 2026 and sent it to producers associated with Drake. He claims that upon Drake’s release of the track in May, the lyrics and melody matched his original work exactly.
Avi asserts that he provided audio files with timestamps to validate his claims, yet Drake’s team refused to acknowledge his contributions or share any profits from the song.
A spokesperson for Drake informed TMZ that, “These allegations are categorically, unequivocally, and completely denied. There is not a single shred of truth to these claims.”
The spokesperson further described the lawsuit as a “fabricated and unfounded attempt” to exploit Drake’s fame and success for financial gain, asserting that the allegations are entirely fictitious.
Drake’s representatives emphasized, “Drake composed this song independently and has no connection or awareness of this individual whatsoever.”
Despite the allegations, Drake’s team stands resolute, asserting that there is absolutely no basis for the claims made against him.
