Overwatch 2 says “Error starting game, trying again” because the servers are down.
You can check if Overwatch 2 is down by going to downdetector.com/status/overwatch-2/.
Once you’re there, check if there’s a spike in the graph.
If there is, it means that the game is probably down and you need to wait for Blizzard to fix it on their end.
Another way to check if Overwatch 2 is down is to go to Twitter and search for “Overwatch 2 down” or the error that you’re experiencing.

“Difficulty accessing certain game content” is a weird way of saying “Can’t play the game because our servers are down again”.
“It’s saying “Game Found” for the last 5 minutes”.
How to fix “Error starting game, trying again” in Overwatch 2
To fix “Error starting game, trying again” in Overwatch 2, you need to try changing your region.
If changing your region fails, it means that the servers are down and you have to wait for them to be back up.
Overwatch 2’s last server outage lasted for about 3 hours.

Fix 1: Change your region
- Open the Battle.net desktop app.
- Select “Overwatch 2”.
- Click on the globe icon.
- Change your region (e.g. Asia).
- Launch Overwatch 2 and try to join a game.
Fix 2: Wait for the servers to be back up
- Check if Overwatch 2 is down on DownDetector or Twitter.
- If there’s a huge spike, it means that the game is down.
- If the game is down, you need to wait for a few hours for the servers to be back up.
- The last outage lasted for approximately 3 hours.
