In Home of the Dragon season two, Heleana Targaryen (Phia Saban) doesn’t share any scenes with Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith)—till the finale, when she seems in Daemon’s Sport of Thrones-referencing imaginative and prescient of the long run. Contemplating the characters’ strongest tie to date is that Heleana’s son was murdered as a second-choice goal by assassins employed by Daemon to kill Heleana’s brother, Aemond (Ewan Mitchell), it was a shocking second.
That Tune of Ice and Fireplace interlude can be the primary factor anybody’s speaking about from the Home of the Dragon finale, so Selection requested Saban her ideas concerning the scene. We first see Heleana inside Daemon’s imaginative and prescient—she tells him “You understand your half … You understand what you have to do”—then it cuts to her in actual life, the place she informs Aemond she is completely not going to hitch him in battle. What’s extra, she is aware of how he’s going to die.
“My feeling isn’t that she was giving Daemon recommendation as a result of she needs him to succeed,” Saban informed the commerce. “I believe selecting between one crew and the opposite suggests that you simply suppose something can occur, and I believe to a sure extent, she feels a bit of bit transcended above that. She has a transparent view of this finish that’s in sight. And I wouldn’t say that she is aware of it innately, however I believe she is aware of sufficient to be like, it’s not about who’s on the throne subsequent—we’re all moving into the identical route.
“I’d additionally say concerning the scene with Daemon, it’s barely left as much as what the viewers thinks about how a lot she is there—current in his dream. Perhaps she’s a projection of one thing he needs to inform himself, particularly since he damage her a lot along with her son and every little thing. From a psychoanalytical perspective, possibly it’s all about him, and possibly it’s not that literal.”
Saban additionally has ideas on what Heleana tells her brother. “I don’t suppose she thinks that it’s going to essentially change his path,” she mentioned. “It’s just a bit second the place she stands up for herself.”
Head to Selection to learn the remainder of the interview, which additionally options Saban’s public declaration that she actually needs Heleana to get a dragonriding scene earlier than Home of the Dragon reaches its finish.
