Faraday Future is inviting consumers to consider purchasing a robot priced at $89,900. As part of its recent strategic shift, this struggling electric vehicle manufacturer is now promoting a range of robotic products, including humanoid robots, quadrupeds, and a robotic arm. If the company’s name sounds unfamiliar, it may be due to its efforts to pivot over the past year, aiming to stabilize its finances and improve its public image.
Faraday’s journey has been marked by ups and downs. The company generated significant excitement leading up to the launch of its first production-ready electric vehicle at CES 2017. Despite ambitious goals, the nearly ten years since then have been tumultuous for both the company and its founder, YT Jia. Financial struggles, numerous lawsuits, internal discord, and layoffs have plagued the business, leading to a halt in many of its ambitious plans. For instance, in January 2025, it reported selling only “15 or 16” vehicles.
In a bid to reclaim its footing, Faraday Future returned to CES this year with promises of a new electric minivan and a commitment to a “fresh start.” The reinstatement of founder YT Jia as the sole global CEO in May, amid broader leadership changes, suggests a renewed focus. The company is still developing its electric vehicle strategy, having completed the first pre-production model of its FX Super One MPV van by December. it appears to be shifting gears towards robotics, inspired by Tesla’s approach.
This month, Faraday Future revealed more information about its robotics lineup. One notable product is a quadruped robot named Navi, designed to help children learn about embodied AI. Priced just below $2,000, customers can opt to purchase an additional 3D-printed canine head for it. the company has upgraded its humanoid model, called Futurist, which stands at 5’8″ and features NVIDIA Sonic’s full-body motion control system. This robot is available for nearly $90,000. Faraday is marketing an industrial-grade robotic arm, referred to as a “mobile manipulator product,” but has not disclosed its pricing, which likely indicates a high cost even for business clients.
Despite the hefty price tags and a somewhat checkered past, Faraday Future appears optimistic about sales. According to its latest press release, the company anticipates shipping over 100 robotic units in June, with total shipments for the first half of the year expected to exceed the initial target of 220 units. This projection is certainly an improvement compared to the mere 15 vehicles sold previously.
