Cheyenne Bryant Addresses the Transcript Controversy, Citing “Pretty Punishment” for Backlash
Currently, Bryant’s Instagram bio describes her as a “psychology expert, life coach, and author,” while her handle includes “doctor.” She is actively promoting her new book and sharing content centered around personal breakthroughs, relationship dynamics, and intimacy.
Her social media comments continue to demand clarification about the legitimacy of her title. The conversation gained significant traction following her May 12 appearance on ‘The Breakfast Club.’ During the interview, she mentioned she was clarifying her credentials for her supporters, dubbed “DocSquad,” rather than for her critics. “I don’t give a f**k,” were her exact words in response to the negativity. She went on to explain that she was enrolled in the doctoral program at Argosy University, which closed permanently in March 2019. Bryant claimed difficulties in retrieving her school records after the closure. She stated that financial aid offered her a refund without any credit for her completed courses, which she declined.
“You can’t fabricate financial aid. It demonstrates that I paid for a doctoral program along with my master’s and undergraduate degrees,” Cheyenne Bryant stated.
Ultimately, she revealed that she possesses some transcripts, up to her dissertation, which she was able to download from the student portal during her time at the university. “But everything else, there’s no…holding take for any of our records, which I find completely unacceptable.” She noted that the school’s third-party service retained records for only two years after the institution’s closure. When DJ Envy suggested that people might overlook her credentials due to her appearance, she introduced her concept of “pretty punishment.”
“…I’ve learned that there’s pretty punishment. I didn’t grasp that term until I entered my field… I’ve been in this industry for 18 years; I didn’t aim for fame… or celebrity status,” Bryant shared.
She expressed that her rise to fame was not her goal. Her genuine intention is to share the lessons learned from her journey guided by God. “Nobody attends college and earns multiple degrees to become famous. Do I appreciate it? Absolutely, I love it.”
Cheyenne Bryant Reinforces Her Doctor Title
Just two days after her interview on ‘The Breakfast Club,’ Cheyenne Bryant appeared on ‘The Marissa Mitchell Show’ on Fox 5 DC. She was there to further promote ‘Live Your Promise’ and delve deeper into its themes. Toward the end of the show, she again addressed the scrutiny surrounding her credentials. She expressed that she was coping well amidst the backlash, even appreciating the “free marketing.” She referenced God in her response, suggesting that her growth and success would naturally come with greater challenges.
“My loyalty is to God, not to people… as long as I am following his will and fulfilling his word, my followers will recognize my voice. Even those who may appear to be against me…,” she explained.
When Mitchell pressed her about her unwillingness to provide proof of her credentials, Cheyenne Bryant asserted that her proof “isn’t something [she] needs to be validated by others.” She elaborated:
“My evidence lies not only in my credentials and degrees but also in my effectiveness. Most of my sessions have been broadcast live. My work with Nick Cannon, Cam Newton, Shannon Sharpe, and B. Simone has been visible for all to see.”
Bryant emphasized her effectiveness and how she has carved her own niche in the industry, which can sometimes lead to admiration morphing into envy. When Mitchell questioned why she wouldn’t drop “Dr.” from her name if she won’t show proof of her degree, Bryant responded:
“…I’ve earned the title; I possess multiple degrees and I refuse to justify my achievements to anyone. I stand firm because I’ve worked hard for it, absolutely.”
Social Media Reactions to “Dr. Bryant” Spark Controversy
Indeed, she has become a trending topic across all social media platforms, including X, Meta, Instagram, Threads, YouTube, and TikTok. Users are clamoring for the proof that Cheyenne Bryant has yet to provide. The discussions are drawing comparisons to notable figures such as Dr. Sebi, Dr. Umar (who possesses a legitimate Doctor of Clinical Psychology degree), Dr. Dre, and even the infamous Malachi “Dr. Love” Love-Robinson, who gained notoriety for impersonating a doctor. Various skits referencing Cheyenne are also going viral. Keep scrolling to see how the internet continues to discuss this topic endlessly!

Cheyenne Bryant is a FRAUD. I’ll NEVER call her Doctor until I see the paperwork! Show me the dissertation. I NEED the license.
As an attorney, I could NEVER understand how someone could proudly claim they lack their documentation. BLASPHEMY!

Cheyenne Bryant enrolled in a doctoral program and thinks that equates to BEING a Doctor of Philosophy.
No one questioned her because she’s attractive, articulate, and technically trying to help.
A lie is still a lie, and she could have simply identified as a life coach.

The backlash against Cheyenne Bryant stems from her attractiveness. If an unattractive person were in the same situation, no one would care.

People should have known Cheyenne Bryant was questionable regarding her degrees, as that’s something many Black women will mention almost unprompted.
