Bad Bunny has faced backlash for sitting through “God Bless America” at Yankee Stadium, but “Marlins Man” tells TMZ that everyone should relax because the rapper didn’t violate any rules.
The sports superfan, known as Laurence Leavy, expressed frustration over the criticism of Bad Bunny, emphasizing that the rapper had the right to remain seated, it is not illegal, and there are larger issues at hand.
Marlins Man, who sat next to Bad Bunny during the event, mentioned that he encouraged the rapper to stand, but Bad Bunny’s team had their own reasons for his behavior. His representative referenced a ‘SNL’ monologue where Bad Bunny joked about Americans needing “four months to learn Spanish before the Super Bowl.”
However, Bad Bunny remained silent, kept to himself, arrived late, left early, and was preoccupied with his phone. Fans assumed he was avoiding the National Anthem, and ‘God Bless America’ caught him by surprise, prompting his early departure, though Marlins Man believes it was simply a matter of bad timing rather than a political statement.
He acknowledged that the situation’s appearance was not favorable, particularly since Bad Bunny was in disguise and sitting next to someone dressed in bright colors, but he insisted that it should not be treated as a scandal.
Ultimately, Marlins Man concluded that the entire incident was merely a stroke of bad luck for Bad Bunny and that it should not have garnered such significant attention.
