Six Flags Over Georgia Rebranding Halloween Attractions After Tragic Incident Changes Following Roller Coaster Fatality
Published
In light of a tragic incident where a man fell to his death from a roller coaster, Six Flags Over Georgia is revamping its Halloween events to enhance safety and sensitivity.
The theme park has officially altered the name of its popular Fright Fest show from “Dr. Fright’s Dead Man’s Party” to “Dr. Fright’s Party” following the unfortunate incident, as reported by USA Today.
This change coincides with the reopening of the park on Friday, following a brief closure after the tragic death of Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem, a 42-year-old educator from Atlanta who was tragically ejected from the Goliath roller coaster.
The adjustments in branding are not exclusive to Georgia. The same Fright Fest event at Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey has also received a name change.
Despite the unfortunate event, Six Flags plans to continue with its “Final Destination”-themed Halloween attraction. This attraction draws inspiration from the famous horror franchise, which depicts a catastrophic roller coaster incident in its third installment.
Earlier, park officials confirmed to TMZ that the “Final Destination” attraction does not include scenes typical of theme parks.
Currently, the Goliath roller coaster remains closed as investigators assess how Hassan was thrown from the ride, impacting other riders before landing underneath the coaster.
Four children sustained injuries during the incident and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
While Six Flags continues to deliver Halloween thrills, it appears the park is taking greater care in how it presents its spooky attractions.
