During the TouchWiz era, Samsung struggled with delivering timely software updates, earning a less-than-stellar reputation. Today, the company has made remarkable strides in providing quicker updates and extended software support for its devices. The year 2026 marks the end of significant Android updates for the Galaxy Tab S9, S9+, S9 Ultra, S9 FE, and S9 FE+. These models will receive the One UI 9 update, based on Android 17. Initially launched in 2023 with One UI 5.1 (Android 13), the Galaxy Tab S9 series is set to receive four generations of major OS updates and five years of security patches. Users can expect security updates to continue until around 2028.
The Galaxy Tab S8, S8+, and S8 Ultra, released in February 2022, have already reached their final major OS upgrade with One UI 8, which corresponds to Android 16. What Can Users Expect from Samsung’s Latest Tablet Models?
Fortunately, the latest Galaxy Tab models come with extended software support periods. Samsung initiated its seven-year software update policy with the Galaxy Tab S10 series, which launched in 2024. The newer Galaxy Tab S11 and S12 models also adhere to this commitment. Even the budget-friendly Galaxy Tab A11 and A11+ devices, released in 2025, qualify for the same seven years of Android and security updates.
