Maria Avila Seeks Arrest Warrant for Chris Brown
The legal situation between Chris Brown and his former housekeeper has taken a dramatic turn, potentially leading to the singer’s arrest. As reported by TMZ, Maria Avila has filed court documents requesting that an arrest warrant be issued for Brown.
Avila was awarded a substantial settlement of $12.9 million after a 2020 dog-bite incident. She contends that Brown is not being forthcoming with financial documentation. In her legal filings, she alleged that the records provided thus far are incomplete and:
“cast doubt on the accuracy and completeness of [Chris’] disclosures regarding payment sources related to his ongoing tour.”
What Led to This Lawsuit?
The Shade Room reported that Brown was ordered to pay Avila $12.9 million following an attack by his 200-pound guard dog at his residence in Tarzana, California. This incident, which occurred in 2020, left Avila disfigured, as she testified during a civil trial, according to Rolling Stone.
At the time of the attack, Avila was taking out the garbage when she encountered the dog. Brown testified that he had previously advised her not to go outside without proper security. He also admitted to leaving the scene after witnessing the blood, wanting to avoid media attention. Brown recounted hearing the dog growling and finding Avila injured and motionless at his front door.
“The blood kind of freaked me out,” he recounted. “There was a lot of blood.”
Avila later revealed that her injuries resulted in a diagnosis of PTSD and severe scarring on her face and left arm, which required skin-graft surgery.
Maria Avila Accepts Reduced Settlement Amount
The Shade Room reported that in September 2026, Avila opted to accept a reduced amount of $9.5 million from her original $12.9 million settlement. Initially awarded the larger sum in June 2026, Brown’s legal team filed for a new trial, arguing that the amount was excessive. A judge from the Los Angeles Superior Court agreed, granting the motion on September 29. Avila was then given the choice between pursuing a trial or accepting $9.5 million, and she ultimately chose the latter. her recent court filing suggests that she is eager to expedite the process of receiving her funds.
