Trump’s Controversial Image: Depicting Himself as Jesus Christ
On the evening of Sunday, April 12, former President Trump took to Truth Social to share a provocative photo that appeared to depict him as Jesus Christ. According to a report by CNBC, this image seems to have been generated using artificial intelligence. Notably, Trump’s post followed criticisms from Pope Leo XIV regarding the U.S. involvement in conflicts such as the “war against Iran and military actions against Venezuela.” This context adds a layer of complexity to the image’s release and the subsequent reactions it generated.
Trump Responds Amid Social Media Backlash
Following the widespread backlash, Trump removed the photo the next day, on April 13. During a press conference, he addressed the controversy surrounding the image and clarified that he had no intention of comparing himself to Jesus Christ. He stated, “I did post it. I thought it was me as a doctor, and it had to do with the Red Cross,” emphasizing that the image was meant to portray him in a positive light, as someone who helps others. He further claimed, “I do make people better. I make people a lot better,” showcasing his characteristic self-confidence.
“I did post it. I thought it was me as a doctor, and it had to do with the Red Cross,” Trump reportedly said. “… It was supposed to be me as a doctor, making people better. And I do make people better. I make people a lot better.”
According to reports, former Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene took to X to suggest that Trump shared the image as a means to “attack the Pope.”
“On Orthodox Easter, President Trump attacked the Pope because the Pope is rightly against Trump’s war in Iran and then he posted this picture of himself as if he is replacing Jesus,” she wrote, highlighting the provocative nature of Trump’s post.
The reactions to Trump’s image continued to flood in across social media, particularly within TSR’s comment section, where users expressed a range of opinions.

Trump’s Provocative Image Sparks Engagement and Controversy
Before Donald Trump shared the controversial image that seemed to portray him as Jesus Christ, he had already made headlines due to his interactions with Candace Owens. As previously reported by The Shade Room, Owens publicly expressed her discontent regarding the U.S. military engagement in Iran. In response, Trump criticized her and others, labeling them as having “low IQs.”
In a witty comeback, Owens referred to Trump as “grandpa,” indicating a playful yet pointed retort that highlighted the ongoing tension between political figures in the current landscape.
