So shut, but to date. Forward of WWDC 2024, I had hoped Apple would allow you to mirror your iPhone inside the Imaginative and prescient Professional, identical to how you need to use your Mac on an unlimited digital show. As a substitute, we obtained iPhone Mirroring on macOS Sequoia. Because the identify implies, it can allow you to see every thing in your iPhone from the consolation of your Mac.
However, I questioned, what in case you mirrored a Mac that was mirroring an iPhone within the Imaginative and prescient Professional? It looks as if the perfect workaround in principle, one that will remedy the headset’s annoying lack of ability to play properly together with your iPhone. However, sadly, it will not work. We have heard from educated sources that Apple’s {hardware} solely helps certainly one of its Continuity mirroring options on the time. So in case you’re sending your Mac’s display screen to the Imaginative and prescient Professional, you will not be capable to mirror your iPhone on the identical time.
We’ve not heard the precise cause for that limitation, however I might wager it comes all the way down to networking limitations. Mirroring a pointy and lag-free model of your Mac’s display screen is tough sufficient — juggling that alongside a wonderfully rendered copy of your iPhone may be too powerful for some Macs. Apple is already pushing past its present Continuity restrictions with visionOS 2, which is able to assist greater decision Mac mirroring, in addition to the power to virtualize an ultra-wide show. So maybe there’s room for multi-device mirroring down the road.
It is not onerous to think about Apple bringing the iPhone mirroring function on to the Imaginative and prescient Professional finally, however ideally, it will additionally work alongside Mac mirroring within the headset.
Listed here are just a few different tidbits we have discovered about iPhone mirroring on macOS Sequoia whereas exploring WWDC:
-
It requires each WiFi and Bluetooth to work, and the iPhone is projected at 60 fps.
