This weekend, a Reddit user highlighted an exciting new product from Panic: a vibrant macaroni yellow charging brick designed to perfectly complement the distinctively yellow Playdate and its accompanying cable. This bright accessory is priced at an affordable $5, making it an enticing option for fans of the console who appreciate a cohesive look for their gadgets. However, there is a catch—shipping costs can nearly double the total, making it more challenging to justify purchasing this item on its own. For those who love collecting unique accessories that match their devices, it might be worth considering pairing it with other purchases to make the shipping fees more palatable.
It’s important to mention that this 10W power adapter features a USB-A connection, which means it will seamlessly work with your existing Playdate charging cable. However, it seems somewhat outdated given the industry’s ongoing shift towards USB-C connections. Currently, Panic offers this charging brick only in a version that supports the 2-prong plug type commonly found in North America and Japan. While it’s clear that this accessory is not a necessity—many users have found their Playdates charge just fine without it—it could be a fun addition if you’re already browsing for other items, such as the recently restocked pizza case. If you’re a fan looking to enhance your Playdate experience, this bright yellow brick could be a delightful choice.
