Throughout the decades, Sony has established itself as a leading innovator, whether through the iconic Walkman, legendary Trinitron TVs, or cutting-edge PlayStation consoles. In recent years, the focus has shifted to the automotive sector, notably highlighted during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). At CES 2023 and 2024, the spotlight was on the revolutionary Afeela electric vehicle, a pivotal part of Sony’s strategy moving into 2025. The upcoming CES event promises to further explore this automotive venture, with a dedicated press conference anticipated to unveil more groundbreaking features and developments.
Discover Key Highlights and Innovations at Sony’s CES 2025 Press Conference
The Afeela, the first electric vehicle emerging from the collaboration between Sony and Honda Mobility, is set to make waves in the automotive industry. Following its unexpected introduction at CES 2023, additional insights regarding its advanced LiDAR sensor array and AI-driven cabin technology—developed in partnership with Microsoft—were shared at CES 2024. As we look toward 2025, we are eager to learn which features of the Afeela will transition from concept to reality, especially with preorders scheduled for 2025 and the vehicle expected to hit the streets in 2026. This press conference is anticipated to be a significant moment for tech enthusiasts and automotive aficionados alike.
However, the CES 2025 event will not solely focus on the Afeela. Sony is likely to showcase its extensive portfolio, including advancements in imaging technology, gaming innovations, and possibly updates from its movie studio division. Furthermore, attendees might gain insights into Sony’s XR headset, which was initially demonstrated at CES 2024 but has since been largely absent from the spotlight. This year’s CES provides an ideal opportunity for Sony to unveil significant updates, potentially positioning their XR headset as a formidable competitor in the burgeoning augmented reality market, aiming to rival products like the Apple Vision Pro.
