Listen to the Hilarious 911 Call from the Young Ice Cream Lover

The memorable incident unfolded on Tuesday, March 4, when the unidentified child dialed 911, insisting that his mother deserved to be taken away by the police. The audio, now widely circulated, captures the charming exchange between the young boy and the dispatcher, showcasing his earnestness in demanding justice for his ice cream.

“My mom is being bad,” the child declared, prompting the dispatcher to ask, “Ok, what’s going on?” He responded with an earnest plea: “Come and get my mommy.”

As the dispatcher probed further into the situation, the boy reiterated his wish for police intervention, leading to a comical turn where his mother intervened. She took the phone and explained that her son, only four years old, had been playful and that she was simply trying to take the phone back after he insisted on calling 911. In the background, the little boy insisted, “No…I called the police and I told her come and get my mommy…and I just told her to put her to jail. So leave me alone.” Ultimately, the mother humorously confessed to enjoying his ice cream.

What Transpired When Police Arrived at the Scene

Despite the humorous nature of the call, officers from Mount Pleasant Police Department responded promptly to the scene, leaving the mother bewildered. Bodycam footage captured her surprise as she exclaimed, “Oh, it’s the police; they came for real.” She called out to her son, asking him why he had made the call. Initially, the boy stated that his mom had been “bad” and was doing “silly stuff,” but the officer promptly clarified the misunderstanding regarding any physical altercations.

“So, no calling 911 unless it’s a real emergency, okay,” the officer advised the little boy, reinforcing the importance of using emergency services responsibly. Another officer humorously suggested arresting the mom, to which she playfully agreed. She later explained that this was the first time her son had called 911, having used Siri for the call, and she had not anticipated that it would connect. As she chased him around the house to retrieve the phone, the officers left after reminding the boy about the proper use of 911.

Heartwarming Gesture: Officers Bring Ice Cream to the Boy the Following Day

In a lovely follow-up to the amusing incident, the responding female officers returned to the boy’s home just a day later, bringing along a delightful surprise: an ice cream sundae adorned with blue sprinkles. The police department shared a heartwarming recap photo featuring the officers alongside the young boy, celebrating the sweet resolution to the ice cream saga.

“On 3/4/25, Officer Gardinier and Officer Ostergaard were dispatched for a 911 hangup. A little boy called 911 saying his mom was being bad and needed to go to jail. When Officers arrived he said his mom ate his ice cream and needed to go to jail for it. He told them he no longer wanted her to go to jail and just wanted some ice cream. Officers responded back today to surprise him with some ice cream after he decided he didn’t want mom in trouble anymore!”

This delightful story quickly captured the hearts of many, with the police department’s Facebook post going viral. It garnered nearly 4,000 comments and shares, ranging from laughter and agreement with the boy’s sentiments to discussions about the implications of rewarding such behavior.
