Amazon’s Prime Try Before You Buy Program to Cease Operations by January 31
Amazon has announced the discontinuation of its Try Before You Buy Prime program, effective at the end of January. This decision, initially reported by The Information, was communicated through a notice on the Prime Try Before You Buy webpage, indicating that the last day of the program will be January 31. Launched in 2018 as Prime Wardrobe, this innovative service allowed members to select up to six items for a trial period. Customers could try on selected clothes, shoes, jewelry, and accessories and return any items they didn’t wish to keep at no extra cost within a week. You would only be billed for the items you decided to keep, making it a popular choice among online shoppers.
In a recent statement to CNBC, an Amazon spokesperson explained, “Given the combination of Try Before You Buy only scaling to a limited number of items and customers increasingly utilizing our new AI-powered features like virtual try-on, personalized size recommendations, review highlights, and enhanced size charts to ensure they find the right fit, we’re phasing out the Try Before You Buy option, effective January 31, 2025.” If you are a user who has benefited from this service, it’s essential to take action quickly and place your final orders before the cutoff date.
