Trump Attacks Kaitlan Collins During WHCD Speech, She Responds

She noted that such remarks are typical of the president.

The host of CNN’s “The Source With Kaitlan Collins” shared her experience with Stewart on Monday’s episode of “The Daily Show.” She revealed that the president frequently insults her during their interactions in the Oval Office, making his comments at the WHCD last Friday seem trivial. The only distinction this time was the larger audience.

Collins further explained that Trump’s comparison of her to trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney during his WHCD speech stemmed from his frustration over her recent award for her rigorous reporting on him. Trump also mentioned that Kaitlan never smiles, despite her youth and attractiveness, and dismissed her as part of “CNN fake news.”

It is noteworthy that Kaitlan recently received the White House Correspondents’ Award for Excellence in Presidential News Coverage Under Deadline Pressure for her insightful reporting on Trump’s 2025 meetings with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Following Trump’s derogatory remarks comparing Kaitlan to Mulvaney during the WHCD, the CNN anchor responded on Instagram, asserting that his attacks were a result of the challenging questions she frequently poses.

During her appearance on Monday’s Daily Show, Kaitlan reiterated her belief that Trump was evidently upset over her award for her reporting and the tough questions she asks that often lead to “non-answers from him.”
