Published
T.I. is taking a moment to reflect on one of the most significant controversies of his career, known as “hymen-gate.” He shares insights into the challenging cycle of events that followed his comments and the impact on his family.
In a conversation with People, T.I. addressed a controversial remark he made in 2019 regarding his daughter, Deyjah, then 18 years old. He admitted to taking her to a gynecologist to verify her virginity, a statement that drew widespread criticism and backlash for months.

Although T.I. claimed he was joking when he made the remark, many listeners interpreted it as deeply misogynistic.
During the recent interview, T.I. expressed that the entire experience “sucked,” particularly since the podcast featuring his remarks was released before they had a chance to address it within the context of their reality show, “T.I. and Tiny: Friends and Family Hustle.”
Upon the show’s release, the family found themselves reliving the turmoil associated with “hymen-gate,” which only intensified their discomfort and emotional strain.
Even with the painful memories replaying on television, T.I. maintains that he does not regret participating in the show. He likens the series to a scrapbook, a way to revisit cherished moments of his children’s early years.
Reflecting on his journey as a father, T.I. emphasizes the importance of navigating parenting with faith rather than fear. He acknowledges the challenges that arise as children gain independence, particularly when they start driving. He believes that while concerns are natural, it’s crucial to have confidence in the values and principles instilled in them throughout their upbringing.
