President Donald Trump has initiated the formation of a new entity termed the Super Intelligence Force. This initiative aims to position the United States at the forefront of artificial intelligence development while ensuring safety and ethical standards.
Trump shared this announcement via his Truth Social platform. While he had previously hinted at the establishment of an A.I. task force, this time he disclosed the members who will comprise this influential group.
The task force will be led by four prominent officials: National Intelligence Director Jay Clayton, FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson, Under Secretary of Defense Emil Michael, and OPM Director Scott Kupor.
Clayton, appointed as the czar of the Super Intelligence Force, expressed confidence in the team’s expertise. He stated to the Wall Street Journal, “I believe we have assembled a group with extensive experience, a variety of skill sets, and a unified commitment to our mission.”
He further emphasized, “These individuals are serious professionals who have previously navigated both opportunities and risks in this field. They are dedicated to ensuring that America excels in the super intelligence race, benefiting the American populace.”
Recently, Trump convened with leaders from various A.I. and technology companies to discuss their commitment to implementing internal reviews and self-regulatory measures for artificial intelligence. A press release detailing their cooperation was later issued, but it notably contained a typographical error regarding DJT’s title.
Trump, who has referred to the rising concerns regarding A.I. capabilities as exaggerated, has resisted calls to slow its development.
In parallel, Senator Bernie Sanders has proposed legislation aimed at prohibiting super intelligence and implementing governmental oversight to regulate its development.
