Stephen A. Smith has made it abundantly clear that he has no intention of leaving his prominent role at ESPN to pursue a career in politics. SAS firmly states that he is not running for office!
TMZ Sports recently encountered the well-known sports commentator while he was out and about in the vibrant streets of New Orleans, Louisiana. Amidst swirling rumors and a recent report suggesting that the 57-year-old Smith was being considered by Democratic Party leaders as a potential candidate for the upcoming 2028 election, we had to ask him directly if he had any interest in such a pursuit.
Before we could even finish our inquiry, SAS quickly and decisively clarified that a run for the U.S. presidency is not something he is considering at this time.
“I ain’t trying to run for office or anything like that,” Smith expressed candidly. “I enjoy discussing politics and delving into topics beyond just sports. If the American public were to express a desire for Stephen A. to run, I wouldn’t hold that against them at all.”

“I don’t know what the hell they’re thinking. I ain’t qualified, but if you want to go ahead and entertain it, you can go ahead and entertain it,” Smith remarked, illustrating his disbelief at the speculation surrounding his potential political future.
If history serves as a guide, it appears that in today’s political landscape, having extensive political experience is not a prerequisite for winning an election—just look at President Donald Trump, who shattered traditional norms by ascending to the highest office without a conventional political background.
“He’s inspired all of us because if he can be president, a lot of us could be president,” Smith reflected, highlighting how Trump’s success has altered perceptions of who can lead the nation.
There’s always the possibility of 2032, Stephen A. Smith!
