The journey to bring Taito’s iconic arcade game to the big screen has been ongoing for over ten years, with initial efforts to develop a film starting back in 2014. In 2019, it was reported that Gregg Russo, who previously worked on Mortal Kombat (2021), had been selected to write the initial script. However, it appears that there have been significant changes in the project’s direction since then.
