Gail Bean Takes Center Stage in ‘The Drop: A Snowfall Saga’

Fans of ‘Snowfall’ have eagerly anticipated the sequel, ‘The Drop: A Snowfall Saga,’ since the FX series concluded in 2023. This acclaimed series ran for six seasons, featuring Bean in a significant role as Wanda Bell.

In the sequel, Bean reprises her role, with the first episode airing on September 8. The ‘Unexpected’ actress shared with Bossip that it hasn’t fully “set in” for her that she is leading a television show. The FX drama explores Bell’s journey as she reinvents herself in 1990s Los Angeles and immerses herself in the West Coast rap culture.

“It has not set in,” she explained. “Every day I’m like, wait, what? When they first announced that I would be the lead, I said, ‘I’m sorry, excuse me?’ It’s so surreal. Even in 2026, when they informed us while filming season six of ‘Snowfall,’ I assumed, Oh, okay, Leon and Wanda are getting a spinoff. I thought he would be the lead, and I would be the second. It’s incredible that even today, it’s not the default assumption that a Black female could be the lead.”
