Claressa Shields Claps Back at Comments About Remy Ma and Papoose

Claressa Shields responded to a fan’s remark after her rival, Alycia Baumgardner, brought her up in a recent interview. Baumgardner referred to Shields as “Clarence,” which prompted Shields to react on social media. The post was captured and shared on Instagram by Live Bitez.

A fan took issue with Shields’ comment about her rival, leading to a rapid response from the boxing champion. The fan pointed out Shields’ tendency to mention Remy Ma or Papoose in her interviews.

@BlacGoddess commented, “But you do the same in every interview; you mention Remy or Papoose – you could avoid it too, but you don’t.”

Shields fired back with a statement about her “man,” Papoose, and seemingly took a jab at his soon-to-be ex-wife, referencing her diss tracks. Notably, Remy Ma released her song ‘Wanna Go’ in August 2026, which appeared to target Shields.

“Pap is my man, I’ll mention him in every answer if I want to,” Shields declared. “And that weirdo lady has made some weak diss tracks about me: please go to hell.”

Claressa Shields Responds to Name-Calling in Interviews

<pDuring the interview, Baumgardner was asked about Shields' support for boxer Caroline Dubois in a potential match against her, and she used the opportunity to insult the 31-year-old.

The boxing champion appeared on the ‘Last Stand Podcast with Brian Custer,’ released on Monday, September 7, where she referred to Shields as “Clarence.”

“You can have five Clarences in your corner,” she stated. “You’re not going to beat me. You know, I am the top dog, as I’ve been saying.”

This statement triggered a response from Shields,

“So wait a minute, this guy who interviewed that scary bum started all his questions with ‘So Claressa Shields’ @alyciambaum, that’s pathetic,” Shields wrote. “You don’t get any clicks without using my name. 17,000 fans were in Atlanta! My team and I didn’t pay anyone to be there.”

The lyrics of the song seem to reference Shields, highlighting themes of imitation. One verse specifically mentions “hand-me-downs,” suggesting a deeper rivalry.

“B*tches want all of my hand-me-downs/ My flows, my shoes, my n*gga, my wigs, all of my hand-me-downs,” she raps.

Baumgardner has also accused Shields of mimicking her style. Shields’ weigh-in outfit prior to her August 2026 fight with Kaye Scott was strikingly similar to Baumgardner’s 2025 ensemble, as reported by Live Bitez.

“Do you see this fugazi-a*s b*tch? Nasty behavior! Nasty,” Baumgardner exclaimed during a radio interview. “And this b*tch in particular. This one tops the cake, you feel me? She’s been obsessed.”
