Samsung’s latest line of foldable smartphones is set to officially debut on August 7, yet they are already making waves in the market.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Flip 8, and Z Fold 8 Ultra are surpassing Samsung’s previous pre-order records for foldable devices, as reported by Mashable. In the United States, pre-orders have surged by 30 percent compared to the prior Z series, with the Z Fold 8 alone accounting for nearly 50 percent of all pre-orders.
These impressive figures indicate that foldable phones may finally be on the brink of becoming mainstream. Notably, the Z Fold 8 features a wider design, resembling the rumored configuration of the anticipated iPhone Ultra Fold. With the Z Fold 8’s apparent success and Apple’s forthcoming entry into the foldable market, the smartphone landscape could experience significant changes.
Samsung has also observed that three times as many users of the Flip model are transitioning to the larger Fold devices compared to previous generations. This trend is significant, especially considering the substantial prices of $1,900 for the Fold 8 and $2,100 for the Z Fold 8 Ultra. While these prices may seem steep, they reflect the current state of the tech industry.

This positive trend is not limited to the United States.
In South Korea, pre-orders reached an impressive 1.44 million units within just a week before the official launch. SamMobile has reported that pre-orders in Europe are also at an all-time high. Clearly, consumers are responding enthusiastically to Samsung’s innovations.
This marks a significant evolution for the foldable phone market, which has only been around for less than ten years. Early iterations of these devices were often costly, occasionally perceived as gimmicky, and typically featured noticeable creases on their screens. advancements in technology have improved the quality of foldables, and early adopters have uncovered numerous practical applications for folding displays beyond mere novelty. Still, foldable phones have largely remained a niche offering.
Only a couple of days remain to pre-order the new Galaxy Z Series, which will officially launch in the United States on Friday.
