Allison Jones believed she secured a position in the tech industry through an “Easy Apply” job submission on LinkedIn. To her shock, she received an email filled with racist language from someone purporting to represent the company’s Human Resources department.

Was the company genuine? What essential precautions should job seekers take when applying online?

The Shade Room’s Justin Carter investigates and provides insights on ‘TSR Investigates.’

Allison Jones Receives Racist “Dear Chimp” Email After Job Application

Carter reports that Allison Jones managed to secure a job interview with the tech firm Nexesh. According to Jones, her interview began oddly when the interviewer requested to postpone their meeting by an hour. When Jones indicated that this time would not work for her and proposed to reschedule, the call allegedly ended abruptly.

“Like hangs up in my face,” she recounted to Carter. “So I’m kind of like, ‘Okay…’ And honestly, at that moment, I thought I probably wouldn’t reschedule this interview.”

About an hour later, Jones received a shocking email from the recruiter.

“‘Dear Chimp, You showed up to the interview just to say you’re not interested? What a clown. Impressive waste of everyone’s time. Next time you feel like playing these games, don’t. Never reach out to us again. Ever,” the email allegedly stated.

Details on the Email & Alleged Company Response

Jones expressed that she was “floored” by the email. She responded, only to receive a follow-up message that stated the company does not hire “walking diversity chimps.”

“… and we’d personally escort their asses straight into the f*g dumpster before they slither through our doors and poison the entire goddamn environment,” the response email reportedly included.

Allison Jones explains why she believes the company continued to harass her despite its apparent public apology. In the end, Jones reveals that Nexesh’s alleged CEO contacted her directly, and she, along with her lawyer, discovered that the company might not even be a legitimate business.
