TMZ Sports has uncovered the prison meals that Ippei Mizuhara will be consuming during his time in incarceration. Unfortunately for Shohei Ohtani‘s former interpreter, beloved snacks like peanuts and Cracker Jacks will not be part of his daily fare.
According to a spokesperson from the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the facility where Mizuhara is currently held, FCI Allenwood Low in Pennsylvania, adheres to a National Menu system. This means that Mizuhara will enjoy a selection of rotating meals throughout his stay, providing him with some variety while he serves his time.
Each day, Mizuhara will receive three meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This structured schedule gives the 40-year-old inmate access to a variety of traditional American food staples, which are designed to meet basic nutritional needs while he is incarcerated.
For breakfast, inmates can expect options such as fruit, oatmeal, grits, cereal, pancakes, and toast. This variety aims to provide a balanced start to the day, ensuring inmates like Mizuhara have the energy to face their daily routines.
During lunch, Mizuhara will have a selection that may include wraps, sandwiches, burgers, fish, and occasionally, tacos. These meal options are not only filling but also designed to provide a taste of comfort food for those serving time.
For dinner, Mizuhara can select from options like steak, sausage, fried rice, pasta, roast beef, and even hot dogs at times. These choices reflect an effort to provide a satisfying end to the day with meals that are both hearty and comforting.
Ippei Mizuhara finds himself in this challenging situation after being sentenced to 57 months in prison back in February for allegedly misappropriating millions from Ohtani to fund gambling debts through an illegal bookmaker. His current diet reflects the consequences of his actions and the realities of prison life.
While incarcerated, Mizuhara will still have the opportunity to catch glimpses of Shohei Ohtani in action, as he has access to multiple televisions that broadcast MLB games. This connection to the outside world offers a small comfort during his sentence.
It’s a stark contrast to the excitement of enjoying a dugout seat and savoring a Dodger Dog at Dodger Stadium, highlighting the differences between life outside and the stringent environment of prison.
