Notion Shifts Focus to AI-Driven Email Solutions for Your Inbox
Notion has officially announced the discontinuation of its email client, Notion Mail, effective September 22. This service will cease to operate across web, mobile, and desktop platforms. To assist users during this transition, Notion has published a comprehensive FAQ to ensure that no messages or important data are lost. Although most emails will remain accessible in a user’s Gmail inbox, individuals will need to manually export their drafts, scheduled emails, snippets, and auto-label instructions.
We’re winding down the Notion Mail inbox across web, desktop, and iOS on September 22.

Despite this shutdown, Notion is not abandoning the email landscape entirely. The company stated, “As Notion agents have gotten more capable, we’ve seen more users hand off email workflows to them.” In a recent post on X, Notion revealed that over half of its Mail users manage their emails without ever opening their inbox. This insight drives their decision to focus entirely on utilizing agents to manage users’ inboxes.
Notion continues to provide a robust suite of productivity tools. The introduction of Notion Mail followed the acquisition of startup Skiff in 2024, further enhancing its offerings.
