Kristin Cavallari Sets the Record Straight on Her Divorce from Jay Cutler and Business Success
Kristin Cavallari is determined to clarify misconceptions regarding her divorce from Jay Cutler, emphasizing her independence and business prowess.
In the June 18 episode of Actually Cavallari: The Headline Tour, the 38-year-old reality television star and successful entrepreneur opened up about her 2020 divorce from former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler. During this candid conversation, she addressed the persistent rumors surrounding his supposed financial support of her thriving venture, Uncommon James, which has gained significant traction in the lifestyle and jewelry markets.
“Our revenue is close to $50 million a year,” Cavallari disclosed, showcasing the impressive scale of her business. “However, because I was clearly a WAG—wives and girlfriends of athletes, for those who might not know—people often like to claim that everything I have in my life is due to my ex-husband, and that he funded Uncommon James.”
However, Cavallari firmly asserted that it was solely her vision, hard work, and perseverance that built her brand from the ground up, reinforcing her identity as a self-made entrepreneur.
“But I am, to this day, 100% owner, and I have never taken any outside funding,” she emphasized, further dispelling the myths surrounding her business’s origins and proving her commitment to her entrepreneurial journey.
Regarding any financial support from her ex-husband, she reiterated her position: “I have never received a penny from my ex-husband. I did not get any money from our divorce, so let’s clear that up.” This assertion highlights her independence and financial autonomy post-divorce.
Later in the episode, Cavallari shared more personal insights with her best friend and celebrity hairstylist Justin Anderson. She opened up about her experiences navigating life after the divorce and reflected on how her approach to dating has evolved since her split from Cutler, with whom she shares three children: Camden, 12, Jaxon, 11, and daughter Saylor, 9.
“It became really f–king hard,” she expressed, describing the challenges of re-entering the dating scene. “I’m not going for toxic anymore. I’m never gonna settle. I’m waiting for my perfect match.” This statement underscores her commitment to finding a healthy and fulfilling relationship.

Anderson pointed out that Cavallari has a history of dating “really bad guys,” and inquired whether she ever felt unable to assert herself in a relationship. “I couldn’t steamroll Jay,” Cavallari responded, reflecting on her past relationship dynamics.
However, Anderson disagreed, suggesting, “Yeah, you could, you owned Jay.” This exchange highlights the different perceptions regarding power dynamics in their relationship.
“Yeah, but not in a way where I could do whatever the f–k I wanted,” Cavallari clarified. “It wasn’t like I could just run over him,” further elaborating on the complexities of their relationship.
Following her breakup with TikTok star Mark Estes in September 2024, Cavallari has been dating, but she’s raising her standards significantly. Her children are also playing a crucial role in this process by being brutally honest about who their mother should date next.
Sons Camden and Jaxon shared their unfiltered thoughts when Cavallari revealed her plans to visit Scottsdale, Arizona, after the tour to meet the mystery man she had been dating.

“What’s in Scottsdale?” Camden asked his mother. Cavallari playfully responded, “That man,” teasing her sons about her new romantic interest.
Confused, Camden pressed further, “Wait, what? The hockey guy?” showcasing their curiosity and concern regarding their mother’s dating life.
“He’s a baseball player,” Cavallari corrected her son from the driver’s seat, as both boys sat in the back of the car, highlighting the playful banter in their family.
“He [is] what mom? Like who is this kid? Is he like 27?” Camden joked, showcasing his protective and humorous nature regarding his mother’s dating choices.
Cavallari quickly corrected him, revealing the man’s actual age: “He’s 30,” indicating her openness about her dating life with her children.
“Oh mom, too young then,” Jaxon chimed in, with Camden backing his brother, adding, “I dunno about it, mom. Dunno about it,” expressing their protective instincts and concern for their mother’s happiness.
