Snapchat is considering the possibility of unpinning its My AI chatbot from the top of your chat feed, a decision that will depend on your actual usage and whether it enhances your overall Snap experience.
As all Snapchat users are likely aware, the platform introduced its My AI chatbot in 2023, designed to serve as an AI assistant within the app, ready to answer any questions or assist with various tasks that users may have.
The My AI chatbot made its unexpected debut at the top of every user’s chat feed. While the bot has shown consistent engagement, it has also caused some irritation for individuals who prefer to maintain a curated chat experience on Snapchat.
Unfortunately, users cannot remove the My AI chatbot from their chat feed. If you find its presence bothersome, there is no option to eliminate it through the app settings unless you are a subscriber to Snapchat+.
For those who are Snapchat+ subscribers, there is a feature available to “Unlink” the My AI chat, allowing users to effectively hide it from view. However, this option is not available to those who do not pay for the premium service.
This limitation is currently in place.
Snapchat is actively testing new display options for the My AI feature, which will be determined by how frequently users engage with the chatbot. If you rarely interact with My AI, it may soon be removed from your inbox, although you can still access the bot whenever needed.
This change represents a positive step forward, granting users increased control over their Snapchat experience and how they interact with AI features.
That said, a significant number of people are already utilizing My AI, with over 500 million users engaging with the chatbot. This figure represents more than half of Snapchat’s total of 900 million monthly active users. Thus, even if Snap introduces the option to remove it, it seems likely that most users will choose to keep it.
Essentially, Snap will likely take an initial period to gauge user interest in the My AI chatbot. If you show little to no engagement with it, Snap will interpret that as a signal to hide it from your chat feed.
Although Snap has not provided a specific timeline for when changes to the chatbot’s visibility will take effect, it has confirmed that it is actively exploring and testing various options in this regard. Therefore, if you notice that My AI has vanished from your inbox, this could be the reason behind it.
