A man from Rhode Island, whose extraordinary birth was officially recognized as a “miracle” by Pope Leo XIV, has been apprehended in connection with a double shooting incident.
Tyquan Johnson, aged 19, faces allegations of shooting two individuals. He was captured by the U.S. Marshals fugitive task force at a residence in Virginia on Wednesday morning, as confirmed by the Newport Police Department.
Authorities report that Johnson shot two people in Newport, Rhode Island, on July 19 before fleeing to Virginia.
The individuals he allegedly shot sustained injuries that are not life-threatening. A second suspect is sought for questioning regarding the incident, but Newport police have not disclosed their identity.
Johnson’s arrest follows approximately one year after Pope Leo XIV recognized his birth as a miracle—the first instance of such a declaration in Rhode Island. Born prematurely in January 2007 at Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket, Johnson’s survival was deemed unlikely due to severe oxygen deprivation. through collective prayers, he made a remarkable recovery without the need for medical intervention, emerging without any lasting health complications.
As of now, the Vatican has not issued a statement regarding the alleged crimes of the miracle baby.
