Monitor Your Beloved Pets with Rivian’s New Lock Screen Feature for Cars
Rivian has introduced an innovative feature in its latest software update that will delight pet owners. With the 2026.36 update, R2 vehicle models now allow users to display a Pet Cam on their phone’s lock screen, providing peace of mind when stepping away from the car while their pets remain inside. This feature utilizes the high-definition interior camera of R2 models, offering a live feed of the vehicle’s interior through the Rivian app. Users can choose to view a continuous livestream to catch every moment of their pet’s activities or opt for regularly updated snapshots on the app dashboard or lock screen for a quick glance. The Pet Cam can be easily disabled directly from the vehicle’s main display with a simple tap.
The upcoming software update will also enhance the existing Pet Mode, designed for optimal climate control for pets left in the vehicle. Now, you can activate Pet Mode conveniently from the Rivian app, ensuring your furry friends stay comfortable even if you forget to set it before leaving. there will be a confirmation prompt whenever Pet Mode is toggled on or off via the app, preventing accidental changes that could jeopardize the safety of your dogs, cats, or birds. These new controls will be accessible in all of Rivian’s vehicle models.
In other updates, R2 vehicles will welcome the introduction of Rivian Assistant. This AI voice assistant, already available in R1 models, can assist with various tasks related to navigation, entertainment, and climate control within the vehicle.
