TLC’s Karen Derrico is currently embroiled in legal troubles following her arrest in Las Vegas. Authorities claim she made death threats against her ex-husband and his children.
Recent legal documents obtained by TMZ reveal that the “Doubling Down With the Derricos” star has been charged with multiple offenses. These include harassment, violating a restraining order, using threats to prevent a witness from testifying, and aggravated stalking.
Prosecutors assert that Karen sent a series of threatening emails to her ex-husband Deon, with whom she shares 14 children. These messages reportedly included threats to kill him, along with her indifference about facing jail time.
She allegedly threatened to harm any of the children who supported Deon during their contentious separation. she warned that she would kill Deon if he attended a court hearing related to the restraining order he had filed against her.
A source close to Deon informed TMZ that he sought the restraining order due to the escalating threats. As the situation worsened, he filed a police report that included the threatening emails.
TMZ revealed that Karen and Deon finalized their divorce in the summer of 2024. They subsequently divided legal and physical custody of their 14 children.
Even after their divorce, sources indicate that they continued to cohabit for financial stability and to maintain a semblance of unity for their large family. as it became evident that reconciliation was unlikely, Karen reportedly moved out earlier this year with four of the children.
Karen’s attorney, Jess Marchese, asserts that Deon fabricated the threats, sending them to himself while pretending they were from Karen to undermine her credibility. They are collaborating with technology experts to substantiate this claim.
Karen maintains her innocence, firmly stating that she would never threaten her children in any manner.
Marchese also revealed that Karen has been released on a $2,000 bond and is currently wearing an ankle monitor as part of her conditions for release.
The fifth and final season of ‘Doubling Down’ aired in 2024, showcasing the tumultuous life of the couple and their 14 children.
