Henry Cejudo expressed his satisfaction regarding how his quick thinking during a recent hit-and-run incident ultimately contributed to saving the suspect’s life, emphasizing the gravity of the situation and the importance of intervention in such moments.

The chaotic event transpired on a Friday night in the UFC star’s neighborhood in Phoenix, where he witnessed a group of young adults recklessly speeding in a car at an alarming rate of approximately 80 miles per hour, raising concerns for the safety of the community.

Cejudo recounted to TMZ Sports on Monday that the vehicle became airborne after colliding with one of his neighbor’s sprinkler systems, ultimately crashing through another neighbor’s residence, creating a scene of chaos and endangerment.

He described how, once the vehicle came to a halt, several individuals inside attempted to flee the scene. However, Cejudo refrained from pursuing them, fearing they might be “armed and dangerous.” Yet, he intervened when one of the individuals attacked a neighbor who confronted them, showcasing his determination to prevent further violence.

Cejudo shared that he physically restrained the attacker, bringing him down to the ground and securing his arms behind his back, demonstrating both his strength and his commitment to community safety. He humorously noted that the suspect should be grateful, as he firmly believes that had he not intervened, the neighbors would have taken matters into their own hands and potentially harmed the individual.

Cejudo revealed that two of his neighbors were armed and had the means to retaliate. He recounted a tense moment when one neighbor cocked their weapon and shouted, “You move motherfer, you’re dead,” underscoring the volatile nature of the situation and the potential for tragedy.

“If I hadn’t been there,” Cejudo asserted, “this kid would have been dead,” emphasizing the critical role he played in preventing a potentially fatal outcome.

The individual involved in the incident—identified by authorities as 22-year-old Angel Cota—was eventually apprehended and faced multiple charges, including DUI and assault, highlighting the serious legal consequences of his reckless behavior.
